Los Angeles Lakers star Chris Paul is out of the running for the NBA’s face of a franchise that will eventually become the Los Angeles Clippers.
The Los Angeles Times reported Tuesday that Paul will not be considered for the post as the Lakers seek to lure him back to the NBA.
The news of Paul’s exit comes amid speculation he might not be returning to the league in 2020 at all, but the Times says it is possible he will stay with the Clippers.
The NBA has not confirmed whether or not Paul will be part of the 2019-20 campaign, but it is unlikely to have any impact on the outcome.
The news came on the heels of a slew of other news regarding the league’s future with Paul.
The 76ers announced Monday that they would be searching for a new head coach after Bob Myers resigned.
The league has been in talks with former Oklahoma City Thunder coach Scott Brooks, but no decision has been made.
